Have been enjoying this album from the Alabama Shakes. Here they are performing last July in Amsterdam:

Driving up to Boston the other week for oral argument before the First Circuit, I was listening to a local NPR station and heard an interview with members of the Debo Band, which can be probably best be characterized as Ethiopian jazz-funk fusion. A little searching on-line turned this up:
